Chandrayaan- Ready to explore the possibilities !!

ISRO’s long time dream of sending Spacecraft to moon is going to come true, and it’s very very near than ever. Yes, Chandrayaan is all set to be launched on 22nd October 2008. PSLV C-11 will be carrying the spacecraft to the space and the launch is scheduled at 6:21 am on 2nd October.

Thousand scientists have been working on this project day and night for about an year. The motive behind the Chandrayaan project is to “Expanding the scientific knowlledge about the moon, Upgrading India’s technological capablilty and providing challenging oppurtunities for planetary research for younger generation”

The 83 metre long PSLV rocket weighs around 316 tons along with the space craft which alone weighs 1380 kilograms. It contains Eleven payloads(or experiments) namely TMC, HySI, LLRI, HEX, MIP, C1XS, SIR2, SARA, Β RADOM, MiniSAR, M3.

The space craft will be controlled from the Deep space network at Byalalu situated some 40km from Banglore. The 52 hours count-down willstart on 21st of october. The chandrayaan project is totally a different one for ISRO, so far ISRO was lauching the satellite on the elliptical orbit at 40,000 km above the earth but the chandrayaan will be projected 4,00,000 kilometres from the earth surface towards the moon orbit. So this is a geat effort by ISRO. The Chandrayaan project has cost about 386 crores.Β

Chandrayaan will carry out research on the evolution of moon, the minerals in moon and the excess amount of Helium in the moon.

Let us wish All the Best and All Success for the ISRO Scientists, on their first Mission to the Moon.

Abhinav Bindra makes History- India Bags Olympic Gold !!!

And finally the wait is over, a looong wait had come to an end, when Abhinav Bindra shot the Gold in the 10 meters air rifle event at the 2008 Olympics. It is a stunning news, i was dumbstruck on hearing that India has got the first Gold in an individual event in the 108 years long Olympics history.

Abhinav got 104.5 points in the final round which added up to his total of 700.5 and he got a lead of 0.8 points than the silver medalist Zhu qinan who got 699.7 and the Bronze medalist Henri Hakkinen got 699.4 points.

This victory of Abhinav Bindra has set the spirit of the Millions (i should say Billion πŸ™‚ ) of Indians on high. I’m sure that this will add up to the morale of the Indian squad in Beijing.

And India gets a Gold in Olympics after a wait of 28 years. Indian Hockey Men got the lastΒ  Gold in the 1980 Olympics.

This has taken the India to the 12th position in the Medal Standings. And i wish that India get few more medals and lift the Indian banners on high πŸ™‚

And finally a hearty Congradulations to Abhinav Bindra, ‘A man who rewrote the Indian Olympic history’.

Life is not a Bed of Roses…

Every now and then i use to reflect on my past life and every time i do that i just can’t forbid myself remembering this event and this saying.

It was the Valedictory day at my School and things went on as usual and while the Assistant Headmaster of our School was speaking he said like this

Boys remember onething, ‘Life is not a Bed of Roses’..

And now, years after this, when i think of my past life i could feel how true he was. Yes Life is not a Bed of Roses. it’s a pathway of thorns

Everyone face problems in life even the richest man in the Earth has his own problems, and naturally the poor too face problems everyday. Life is not as easy as dozing off in a bed of Roses but we have to walk on the thorns and endure all trials and hardships to attain a state where we could feel the thorns as Roses.

There is a verse in Holy Bible it goes like this

And God is faithful; he will not let you be tempted beyond what you can bear. But when you are tempted, he will also provide a way out so that you can stand up under it” (1 Corinthians 10:13).

So it is very clear that for Every problems we face in life there is a divine solution. For every trials for every temptations for every problems we face there is a way to escape from them, but it is in our hands to take the right path towards the solution. So this is one of the lessons i learnt in my life.

While at School our Tamil Sir encouraged us a lot to write poems, of course in tamil. He will give some topics and will ask the boys to write poems on that. Wow i was amazed to hear everyone’s poem. All were equally good. Influenced by that i tried my hands in writing something in English (actually it was supposed to be a poem πŸ˜€ ) I wrote about determination, and here it is. This is something relevant to this post.

To a determined Heart

A life without Strife is a rice without Spice

Failures hurt like fire but a determined heart will not tire

Tears may blur your sight but cease not to fight

Mockers mock more and more but determination burns to the core

When your ways are straight your future is always bright

when God is so near what’s the need to fear?

Life may not be a bed of rose for you

But remember it’s the path that God chose for you

And when at last you sigh out of relief

Remember it’s the day of your belief

Keep in touch, See you.

Draw your Personality

Now-a-days People are more interested in knowing about their personality, and the craze after Personality development has reached it’s peak i should say. Anyway it’s a good sign that people have started showing some interest towards this important aspect of life.

There are various methods in Personality analysis and i recently found one such method in Rachel’s blog.

And what’s here is something different, it’s about Graphology- a type of personality analysis based on hand writing analysis. And another method is personality analysis based on Drawing analysis.

I went on to take the Handwriting test and this what i wrote, (Poor handwriting πŸ™‚ this is all i could write using mouse)

And this is the result of my personality analysis based on my handwriting.

  • You like to be surrounded by four solid walls.
  • You are a shy, idealistic person who does not find it easy to have relationships, especially intimate ones.
  • You are negative, fearful, resistant, doubtful, and/or selfish.
  • You are a talkative person, maybe even a busybody!
  • You enjoy life in your own way and do not depend on the opinions of others.

Do you want to know what does your handwriting say about YOU? Click here.

Then i took the Drawing test, and here it is, this is what i drew.

And this is the result of my personality analysis based on my Drawing,

  • You tend to pursue many different activities simultaneously. When misfortune does happen, it doesn’t actually dishearten you all that much.
  • You are a thoughtful and cautious person. You like to think about your method, seeking to pursue your goal in the most effective way.
  • You like following the rules and being objective. You are precise and meticulous, and like to evaluate decisions before making them.
  • You have a sunny, cheerful disposition.

Do you want to know what does your Drawing say about YOU? Click here.

I don’t know how much true this is, i have a doubt whether the results are based on what we draw using mouse or they are based on the questions we answer.

Anyway you can do it atleast for the fun involved in it. Go ahead and have some fun, and you can post the pictures you drew and about your personality analysis results.

Education: does it serve it’s purpose ??

Enough of Arguments, debates and discussions have been done on our Indian educational system, and i hope you all know how our educational system is. I am tooo tired of complaining against this, so i don’t want to talk about it anymore.

Albert Einstein once said,

The purpose of Education is to train the mind to think “

When? and where? have we been allowed to think ??? (sigh) It kindles the age long agony in my heart.

When i joined the college, i was thinking that College would be something different, where we need not memorize things like as we do in schools. Hmmm.. no way, it is worse than that. Nothing made me think al through this 3 years of college life. (Of course Mathematics the Queen of all sciences has some exception)

And most of the students doesn’t seem to be worried about this at all, all they need is a JOB at the end of their college course. So this wild goose chase after money never ends. You may ask who does’t need money? But, are you going to earn millions with this education you have got, which haven’t served it’s purpose at all.

Winston Churchill once said,

I began my education at a very early age – in fact, right after I left college.

So this is what going to happen for us too, we will begin to think and learn only after we leave our college, that’s when we face the real life.

What R. Buckminster Fuller said is much more interesting, he said.,

If I ran a school, I’d give the average grade to the ones who gave me all the right answers, for being good parrots. I’d give the top grades to those who made a lot of mistakes and told me about them, and then told me what they learned from them.

Even if i run a school, i’ll do the same thing. People should learn something for their life and something which they would use practically in their real life, only then i would say the Education has really served its purpose. After all we know that Albert Einstein said,

Education is what remains after one has forgotten what one has learned in school.

Have you ever given a thought, why there are not much noteworthy Scientists in our India? Here people are good at doing things systematically, but what happens when asked to develop or invent something on our own?? First thing we do is to see whether anyone have done it already and is there a way to claim it as ours? Is this what Education means? Is this the purpose why we go to Schools and colleges for education?

I shouldn’t blame much on Education alone, as i know scientists are paid much less in India when compared to foreign countries. So who wants to squeeze up their minds THINKING just to get that poor salary.

We are not educated with what we need, and what we do has no relevance with what we learnt. So this is Education all about, you learn, you write the exams, you forget, you get the degree you get the job and then comes the important criteria Your Employer will train you(rather educating, we know we are already educated πŸ˜› ) for the job and finally you make-up your living.

And finally the question still persists, The purpose of Education, is it Served??
